"My Recent Works."

My work since the discovery of my inclination towards art, has evolved through periods-phases-stages. This has happened over a span of time- yet since the beginning I am passionate about abstracts. The process continues. After the exploration, I have arrived at the concept of what abstract painting is to me- To me it's not just identifying any meaningless forms in the habitat, and  finding a simile in it...giving it a verbose title. For me it's the search within wherein the spontaneity takes over and the painting is a happening.   The creation happens when a no-mind, meditative ....or the alpha state of consciousness arrives. Hereon I let the streaming energy begin the exploration in the blank space of canvass. The forms dissolve to formlessness and give rise to a new world of colours and unique textures. While this happens, the painter in me explores and experiments in mixed media to get new effects. The mix can be like rice paper overlapped on canvass absorbing the fluidity of colours intrinsically- modified pigments of vivid kinds- the combination of different materials. The work can be  in acrylics, oils, inks, charcoal  on canvass, paper, wood, metal, glass and more. Some objects in the surrounding like rusted iron sheets, wooden planks also attract me. Hues of black, white, grey, ...and tertiary colours, at times bright strokes in primary blues or scarlet I have intermingled in work. The process goes on and arrives at a point where I sense the state of a climax. Indeed it's a state of bliss beyond the mundane. The result is a meditative visual experience, while the effortless sadhana goes further to defy classification.

Early sparks- Till 1994

Life happens. They say there is a place for everyone under the Sun. They also say ' to each , his own'. I found my liking in drawing, painting, art-  thanks to the surrounding in my village in Gujrat, India. I began to draw and paint. Life and my inclination then took me to art school in Baroda where I graduated in fine art.The earliest work of painting is I painted a landscape in enamel paints when I was seven.

Life proceeded, I loved the nature, the mountains. Then the schooling and the art school graduation in Baroda. Academics, the works of masters in history, inspirations followed. My spirit worked in each ism, path of art. Every media was experimented and perfected- beginning with pencil rendering, charcoal, oils, acrylics. Painting figures portraits, landscapes, abstracts. Awards, and appreciation did pour in - yet abstract was my passion and preference.

Mysticism

Mysticism- 1992-2003

The books of Osho set my path further in my inner search in mysticism. I then came to Pune- Osho commune where I loved to seek the energy, meditate and paint. I sensed tremendous energy in the Buddha-field in commune and got fuelled in my life and work by listening to Osho who unravelled various aspects of life and creativity. One thing was clear- I wanted to go ahead with abstracts. 'Farmaish' paintings by art buyers who wanted realistic, mythological ones or portraits also I did on the way.

However centrally my search, experimentation in abstracts I pursued. In the course of timeline their came a phase when I sensed a need for complete solitude- a deeper search within to centre myself. Here I went to hills nearby Pune and stayed for a patch of time, completely in aloneness away from people , urbane, traffic- purely with nature where the chirping of the birds woke me and cool breeze of tree leaves put me to sleep.

At the point hearing my inner calling, I came back to the city to set my atelier, married the woman I love, who always waited for me ,understood me in my rainy days and sunny days. Then I began to live with her , my loving children and work on the next phase of my abstracts, new media, new sizes.

I held solo exhibitions, participated in group shows, received appreciation and viewpoints of art lovers which I am ever open to. Meanwhile the media also discovered me so were art connoisseurs and  creative architects who were looking for innovative art to grace their interiors.

Exploration

Exploration- 2003-2012

I shifted to the maximum city- Mumbai and continued my exploration in my chosen domain of abstracts. I was contented each day , and thought of next work with each new dawn. I held more shows, participated in shows abroad, explored a lot in the dream city which offered me a lot fully. I explored either-or in abstracts- the way of compositions- i.e. less is more, and ' more is more'. I was fortunate to do large sized canvasses for corporate interiors which reached the scale of even 30'x30'. I also went beyond the frame of canvass, did murals in media that even surprised me, and installations that gave an expression to my desire for innovation. I experimented with live art that was the amalgamation of live painting, dance and music.

Gradually I transitioned from mere acrylics on canvass to a range of mix of media, new effects, textures, colour schemes.
